The Mountville Fire Company No. 1 is a 100% volunteer, registered 501(c)3 non-profit organization that relies heavily on the donations received from the community throughout the year. The annual fund drive accounts for almost 50% of our annual income for our budget. The monies received are put to use in many ways throughout the year, some of the uses are
- to pay our operating expenses
- provide training to our dedicated volunteer members
- provide the necessary personal protective equipment to do our job as safely and effectively as we can
- recruitment and retention
In years past, we have only been able to accept cash or check, which limited our income opportunities. This year, through a decision by a committee made up of our Executive Officers, Board of Trustees and Chief Officers, the recommendation was made and approved by the General Membership to team with Paypal and expand our income options to online payments by credit/debit card/Paypal account, as well as cash and check.
The online donation process is all handled through Paypal's website, which eliminates the need for us to spend more of our hard earned funds to secure private information, as Paypal already has this necessary process in place and is well established.
